Week 5 - Brinkley
This week contained a lot of designing. Each team member was given the task to design a valve and shakedown tests to go with it. We put this into a google slide. I also worked on deliverable 4.1 and communicated with the client about getting that assignment approved. This week I also emailed our client about going over our designs in this weeks meeting with him. The client sent us all an article to read that is recent and pertains to the Ahmed valve.
Deliverable 4.1
This section included all of our beginning designs. I made our messy pasteboards into a concise, organized list, so that our client and advisor can see our though process and design evolution.
Design Ideation
The design that I came up with looks like the Ahmed valve, but it has an extra tube with a dissolving component. The second tubing does not have a diaphragm inside of it. Once the silk dissolves, the second tube will have the path of least resistance and the fluid will go through that tube instead. After 6 weeks, there will be a natural resistance on that section from the fibrosis.
After creating this design I came up with three shakedowns that need to be executed early on to see if this design is feasible.
Other members of the team also included their designs and shake down ideas. The other top design is shown below:
Design to start Moving forward with: One of the designs above, going to talk with Client and see what we want to move forward with.
Once we decide on final design, we will have perform the shakedowns that go with that design.
Research Article from Client
Below is the summary of research from the client's article. This will help us with lab set ups in the future, and also shows where certain valves excel and where they are lacking, which will help when creating our design.
