Capstone Week 8
Week 8:
Looked up parts on McMaster for fluid flow in parallel shakedown, and sent needed parts to Alex.
When we went to the lab to fix the flow sensor, some bubbles got in our system, and our Ahmed Valve broke when we were trying to fix this. We now have to wait for our apple sauce pouch to simulate the pressure from fibrosis.
Each component had to be separately sketched, and then I had to make it a tube by extruding and cutting, or using the sweep boss base. I also made the material silicone to see how the tubes are connected and how the fluid can flow. I think that 3d printing might help us learn how to put the parts together and manufacture our valves by practicing gluing and sewing silicone covers to this component.
Created a valve to connect our ½ in tube to our ⅛ in for pressure testing in our shakedown testing.
I had to figure out how to scale the part by ½ because changing the drawing messed up later sections of the part so I couldn’t go with that method.
My part got denied because the diameter was too small.
Lab Testing:
Redrew plugs sizes .3-.45 in increments of .05. Also redrew the connector valve because it got denied by the print lab. (Shown above) I submitted all the parts to be able to do my shakedown. I will just have to drill a hole in the connector to be able to read the opening pressures.
I went back into the lab to redo the Ahmed in the pouch and I got it to the same point as before, but I forgot to purge the second half of the system I knocked the needle out of the valve. I am going to go back in and try for a third time either tonight or Wednesday.
