Week 9 - Brinkley

This week was a lot of testing and research. I am still working on the dissolving component and figure out that data, which will make more sense with time hopefully. When we were in the capstone block, we did a couple of shakedowns, we did a brief resistor in parallel test that worked great, Fady set up the sensors, and we modified parts we already had to make them work for shakedowns.

The research I did this week was about materials. I researched silicone sheets, silicone molding, glue, and sutures. For each category I found biocompatible and regular options. The regular options are much cheaper and easier to get.  Here are the links to the products I found:

Research

Mold and Curing Silicone:

Biocompatible:

I would suggest soft or mid durometer because it would be less preventative of the tube expanding. Less resistance.

Another option is:

If Biocompatibility is not an issue:

This second one has more info, so should order this one. We also have some left over from junior design, so start with that and then buy more if necessary.

Silicone Sheets:

Non-Biocompatible:

This is a very clear option, we already have a lot left over from junior design, but if we need more we should order this so we can see through it and see how our design is working.

Sutures:

Not Medical Grade: we have some in the cupboard from Rickard and some that we order for the pig surgeries.

Meeting with Kierstin:

In this meeting we discussed how to manufacture our design. This is what we drew up, and we will be using some of the supplies that I found in my research.

Testing:

This was some of the manufacturing testing that we did, they replicate the drawings above.

This video shows how good our resistor design is working:
Lastly, here are the conclusions that I drew from this weeks testing and research:
