Capstone Semester 2 Week 1- Kierstin

 Work from last semester:

In class we gave our final presentations, and a few classmates gave their ethics presentations.

Dr. Gordon also gave a quick update on what the first few weeks of next semester would look like and told us that we still had to get 10 hours for the first week of next semester.

After the presentation, I processed with Brinkley about how she thought it went, and I shared my concerns and feelings with her about how I was a little upset at how the question portion went. We debated if it would benefit me to talk to Dr. Gordon about it.

I wrote my self-reflection but some of my answers were a little harsh, so I waited to send it to Dr. Gordon until after I had talked with him.

I filled out the peer evaluation form and sent that to him for the semester.

I went to Dr. Gordons during office hours and discussed how the presentation went, as well as talked about the project.

After talking to Dr. Gordon, I revised my self-reflection and emailed it to him.

Work over break/ Thinking about Capstone:

Over break, I did a lot of explaining glaucoma to my family. I explained the Ahmed valve, how it works, and the issues that fibrosis causes. I then explained to them my teams design and how because it was dependent on ATP fibrosis did not cause any issues. My sister-in-law is a physical therapist so it was cool to talk with her about the project because she understood the anatomy and the issue of glaucoma. I reiterated all of this to extended family over Christmas but didn't go into as much depth.

After our final presentation, my team talked with Rickard and Dr. Gordon, and talked about possibly thinning the tubing wall thickness by heating and stretching it over a candle. Over break I searched my house and found two tea light candles that I brought back for my team to use to thin the walls of the Ahmed tubing.

Work back at school/ First week:

I thought through why we had wanted to thin the walls and wrote it down to help me and others understand the reasoning.

I thought through how we could thin the walls and different variables we could adjust for different results.

I also thought through other tests that would be beneficial to our project, and how to better include all members for equal work this semester.
